TW: World Suicide Prevention Day

As the leaves begin to change and a new season approaches, September brings with it a series of important wellbeing days that encourage us to take a step back, reflect, and prioritise our mental, physical, and emotional health. From raising awareness about mental health struggles to financial planning and embracing inclusivity, there are multiple wellbeing days in September enhance our overall wellbeing.

World Suicide Prevention Day (September 11th)

On September 11th, the world comes together to observe World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about suicide, promoting mental health advocacy, and providing support to those who may be struggling. According to the World Health Organisation, close to 800,000 people die due to suicide every year, making it a global public health concern. This day serves as a reminder that our words and actions can have a significant impact on someone's life. Through open conversations, education, and destigmatisation, we can create a more supportive environment for those in need. Organisations and individuals around the world use this day to spread messages of hope, resilience, and the importance of seeking help when it's needed most.

We have several talks available to help facilitate conversations and understanding in your workplace, such as 'From Planning Suicide to Contemplating Resilience' with Josh Connelly to 'Tackling and Understanding Difficult Emotions' with Jonny Say - check out our September brochure for all the sessions available.

Pension Awareness Week (September 11th-15th)

Simultaneously, from September 11th to 15th, Pension Awareness Week takes centre stage. While often not given the attention it deserves, financial wellbeing is a crucial component of our overall quality of life. This week-long observance aims to educate individuals about their pension options, helping them make informed decisions about their financial future. With the complexities of pension systems, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. However, Pension Awareness Week provides valuable resources and workshops to guide individuals through the process of planning for retirement, ensuring they can enjoy their golden years without unnecessary financial stress.

Our resident financial expert, Paul Kelly, built FSK Financial Planning, to help people and their families live the life they wish to lead and provide a greater sense of financial well-being for them. His session 'Financial Wellbeing for Today and your Future' is the perfect accompaniment to a week dedicated to long term financial planning and wellbeing.

National Fitness Day (September 25th)

As you get towards the end of September, it's time to get active! National Fitness Day, celebrated on September 25th, encourages people of all ages and fitness levels to engage in physical activities and prioritise their health. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to neglect our bodies in the midst of busy schedules. National Fitness Day reminds us that staying active doesn't have to be a chore; it can be enjoyable and fulfilling. From taking a brisk walk to trying out a new sport or dance class, this day offers numerous opportunities to get moving and improve both our physical and mental wellbeing. Regular exercise has been proven to boost mood, reduce stress, and increase overall happiness, making National Fitness Day a perfect time to kick-start a healthier routine.

UK National Inclusion Week (September 26th - October 2nd)

Closing out the month, from September 26th to October 2nd, the UK celebrates National Inclusion Week. Inclusivity is a cornerstone of a healthy society, and this week serves as a platform to highlight the importance of creating environments where everyone feels valued and respected. Embracing diversity in all its forms enriches our communities and workplaces, fostering creativity and innovation. During National Inclusion Week, organisations often host workshops, discussions, and events that promote understanding, empathy, and collaboration. By actively working towards a more inclusive society, we can ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
